Senior Management
Hugh BeggsManaging DirectorHugh has spent the last six years building, and successfully managing NAS, a new general insurance broking business, using his experience in business and with technology. Hugh entered the computer industry in January 1964. He spent the next 24 years working in many aspects of the industry in Europe, the USA and Africa and for the last 14 years managed his own international business based in London. He migrated to Perth in 1988 and acquired an ailing computer training company. In the following 12 years as Managing Director he grew the business into AlphaWest, at that time Western Australia's largest private IT professional services company. In May 2000, AlphaWest was acquired by Solution 6 and Hugh spent his 12 months "workout" as Managing Director of Solution 6's European operations, based in London. Hugh returned to Perth in July 2001. In March 2002, Hugh took the position of Managing Director and major investor in NAS Insurance Brokers and commenced building the technology and compliance infrastructure required for a successful national general insurance brokerage. Since then, Hugh has lived in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne establishing local offices in each state.
Nalini RobertsonGeneral ManagerNalini has a bachelor's degree in commerce (accounting), a postgraduate diploma in education, and an MBA from the University of Western Australia. She has attained PS146 Tier 1 compliance in Insurance Broking. Nalini has worked in accounting, education and information technology in Australia and overseas. She has extensive experience as a project manager and consultant working with financial and ERP systems including SAP R/3, Great Plains Dynamics, and Microsoft Axapta. Her general management experience includes working with technical groups involved in technical training, consulting, systems implementation, systems design and development, software quality assurance and the last five years managing this general insurance broking business.
Julian SummersNational Operations ManagerJulian holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a master's in Applied Science (chemical engineering) and a postgraduate diploma in management. Julian joined NAS with a wealth of experience in software design and development, business process analysis and software project management. His experience spans a wide range of information systems including funds management, internet-based vocational education, plant construction, mine geology, and general insurance broking. Julian has overseen the development of the FINNAS broking system by the NAS IT team; more recently, he has focussed on procedures for more efficient operation of the business.
Marilyn ChamberlainCompliance OfficerMarilyn joined NAS Insurance Brokers with extensive experience in the IT industry, as a training specialist, project manager, business analyst and IT Training Manager. Marilyn has been involved in systems and applications training; e-commerce systems implementation; training needs analysis and training evaluation; the development, writing and production of technical manuals and training programs; and the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance systems. Since moving to the insurance industry Marilyn has gained experience in managing and maintaining compliance systems to meet FSRA requirements and Australian Standards; general insurance broking systems; and HR management. In addition to her role as Compliance Officer, Marilyn uses her broad experience and exceptional skills in the preparation and presentation of training courses for Authorised Representatives and NAS staff. Marilyn has a Diploma in Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and QPIB status through NIBA; she is a Senior Associate of the ANZIIF.
Koert SlikNational Business Development ManagerKoert is a qualified general insurance broker with a Bachelor of Business Degree, Diploma in Financial Services (general insurance broking) and QPIB status through the National Insurance Brokers Association. Koert is also a member of the ANZIIF and of the Australian Institute of Risk Management. Koert's wide experience in insurance broking, and the management of broking organisations has included involvement in corporate strategic planning, marketing, internal systems management, and portfolio management and analysis. As National Business Development Manager, Koert helps Authorised Representatives nationally to develop their portfolios of general insurance business, and strengthen relationships with insurers and underwriting agencies. Koert also leads the internal broking team in managing business referred to NAS insurance Brokers.
Matthew RowstonInformation Technology & Communications ManagerMatthew joined NAS Insurance Brokers with over 12 years experience as an IT systems trainer, technical instructor, IT consultant and network engineer. In addition to a Bachelor of Science and Computing degree and a Diploma of Education Matthew has a range of industry certifications in specialist technology and systems engineering products. With a background in both education and technology, Matthew brings invaluable experience and a unique set of technical and communication skills to NAS Insurance Brokers. As IT&C Manager, Matthew co-ordinates and manages the NAS national network of 150 users and as a member of the executive team helps plan for future growth. |
