Known Compatibility Issues

Some software is known to cause a variety of issues while using FINNAS. The following pieces of software have been identified by NAS Staff and Advisers:

  • Browser Toolbars - can prevent FINNAS popups. Google search is an example
  • Nortons 360 Antivirus - problems such as Exporting Data from FINNAS
  • ESET NOD32 Antivirus - prevents Formworks based insurance products from connecting to Sunrise Exchange
  • HP Smart Web Printing - problems with the mouse cursor in FINNAS popups

Further troubleshooting.

When printing or viewing a PDF report you may receive a blank page, or an error message:

Ensure you have installed Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9 (or later). The Acrobat Reader is available free from the Adobe website

If you have more than one version of Adobe Reader installed on your PC, this may cause problems with opening PDF files. To check the number of versions of Adobe Reader you have installed, go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

If you have more than one version installed (eg: Version 9 & Version 8) you need to uninstall ALL versions from your PC and then download the latest version from the Adobe website.

Browser hangs on displaying pop up boxes, or pop ups not displaying

Client machines used to access FINNAS which have third party products installed that are designed to kill or block pop ups or remove ActiveX controls can cause Internet Explorer (IE) to hang.

Combining Internet Explorer with such third party products may cause IE browser hangs when:

1. Opening Pop ups such as Multi Value Groups or Pick Applets (adding Addresses)
2. Running Reports by clicking on the 'Reports' icon and selecting a report

This behaviour has been seen with the following third party products and therefore is likely to occur:

Lavasoft Ad-aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Stopzilla - http://www.stopzilla.com/
Google Toolbar - http://toolbar.google.com/

This is not an exhaustive list of all popup killer applications that can cause the above behaviour and it is likely that there are additional third party applications or utilities that will cause the same results.

You can test whether Pop Up Killers are installed on your machine by going to the Tests Page. A test will automatically run upon opening the site and indicate to you whether you have Pop Up Killers installed.

NAS recommends completely uninstalling any popup killer third party applications or applications that have such functionality built into them (via Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs). Note that leaving the third party product installed and simply disabling the functionality via the applications options may not fully resolve the behaviour.
